St. Patricks Day Parade

The 30A St. Patricks Day parade was a huge success for South Walton.  Twenty floats made their way along 30A and found their way to Gulf Place. The Amphitheater at Gulf Place provided a perfect gathering area for all the participants along the parade route.  When everyone arrived there was food, drinks, and artist vendors, face painting, and musical entertainment to entertain young and the young at heart.

The parade, which first rolled in 2008, included a festival complete with green beer, Guinness-sponsored banners, face painting and an Irish good time. Entertainment included Irish Dancers and Atlanta-based Celtic rock band Mickle-A-Do. The festival entertainment portion of the event has grown tremendously, and the amphitheater was packed this year.

Mardi Gras at Gulf Place

What a day!  Saturday, March 17, 2012 was a fun day at Gulf Place.  The streets were blocked off, food was in the air, the sound of New Orleans bounced off the colorful buildings and the anticipation of colorful beads being flung through the air was palatable.

In spite of the threat of a rainstorm, the community came out to find Mardi Gras smiles, food, and drinks.  Gulf Place merchants doors were open with special food and drinks to put everyone in the sprite of Mardi Gras.  The Naked Grape Wine Station was boiling shrimp while Restaurant Fire was grilling hot dogs and hamburgers with a side of freshly spun cotton candy.  The Artists at Gulf Place were out showing their latest creations along with face painting and funny pictures with a Mardi Gras cutout board.

FIrst Annual Crawfish Boil

First Annual Crawfish Boil at Gulf Place is over and it was a blast. Crawfish was prepared by our native New Orleans Chefs from Fire. The Naked Grape Wine Station also sold beer and wine.

Boukou Groove provided the music from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and they sounded great.
